Wellington

The other morning as I was walking up to work through the Allenby Tce shortcut, I was offered some coffee or orange juice. This seemed quite odd given the fact that there was a whole bunch of people just standing around in the middle of the path. The guy who offered me the coffee then apologised to me saying that there had been a small delay but that my scene would start soon. As I was about to ask him what he was going on about, he must've seen a complete blank expression on my face and then asked me if I was an actor or just a passerby. It all made sense now, they were filming something but by the size of the crew and by the the way they were organized, I think we can scratch out the possibility of it being a movie or a commercial. I wouldn't be surprised it it were a local tv show production.

A few years back as I was returning home one night, I saw a guy running around the streets with only a towel around his waist. At the time I thought he must've been drunk or something for it was quite a cold night and it was around 1 or 2 am at the time. I recall thinking that in Wellington you can find the oddest people sometimes considering how small the city is. A few months later, I saw the scene replayed on the tv, the show was The Insider's Guide to Love. They had been filming in the vecinity of my home and yet you would've only noticed it had you walked directly where they were filming.

Back in Mexico City, there were a few neighborhoods that were always being used in the filming industry. Regardless of what it was, video, movie or commercial, there would be a crew shooting something. There would be a lot of people who would just come around and watch and the place would be swarming with activity. It was hard to miss. Trucks full of equipment, catering and security vehicles would be all over the place so that would also make it hard to keep it a secret. So it was nice to see how by comparison things are so simple here, no fuss, all relaxed and just having a good time.

I wonder what they were filming.

The winds have been picking up lately and you can find broken umbrellas all over the place. Nothing new really except that the numbers of broken umbrella sightings have increased quite dramatically. Here's just an example of what the wind can do, it's not very impressive for Wellington standards but it still made me take a photograph. You can see how the sign is dangling by only one pole from the roof. Glad nobody got hurt!!
